Me-Maw

We were able to visit my grandmother a few weeks ago. I miss her so much. This was her first time to meet sweet Henry.

I always love to see her hold my kids. Something about it makes me smile.

Guess who didn’t want to take a picture…

IMG_0063

Yep. Nathan. Look how mad he is in the corner.

IMG_0065

I tried to force him.

IMG_0066

That didn’t turn out so well.

Family Photos

Every few years we get our favorite photographer to take some pictures for us. We thought these turned out great. Little Henry was 2 weeks old.

Swimming

Some of our friends have a pool that we plan on frequenting a lot this summer! This was one of our trips from a few weeks ago.

Hannah loves swimming. This was actually before her swimming lessons, so she has on her life jacket.

IMG_0048

Nathan’s not too crazy about the water. He would rather play ball.

IMG_0049

Funny story about Nathan’s swimming lessons.  It seems we may have a ladies man on our hands. He and Hannah took lessons from a young guy named Mr. James. On the 3rd day it was obvious that Hannah was doing much better than Nathan. James wanted to spend more time with Hannah, so he told Nathan that his little sister, Beth Anne, was going to help him. Nathan was upset and said he only wanted Mr. James. Then Beth Anne walked out. She was a cute little cheerleader and had a two piece bathing suit on. She smiled at Nathan and held out her hand. He smiled really big, took her hand and went right with her. It reminded me of that Sandlot moment when the little boy with the glasses stares at the lifeguard, Wendy Peffercorn. That evening at dinner Scott asked him how swim lessons went. Nathan put his hand on his cheek, his eyes glazed over, then he smiled and very slowly said “Really great.”

Small Town

Our little town has something they call “First Fridays” on the first Friday of each month in the summer. They close the streets around the square and have live music, food trucks, bounce houses, etc. Last year we went and didn’t know anyone. This year I was talking to everyone! It was lots of fun. When it got dark they had a spectacular fireworks show. We sat in the back of the suburban and watched together. It was one of those “blessed” moments.

Good Times

Scott and I have more than once in the past few weeks found ourselves blown away at how blessed we are. Little moments with these kids are priceless and we are realizing more and more how fleeting they are. Here are just some fun moments we’ve had at home.

Henry (10wks). He’s been all smiles lately.

Nathan is just as active as ever. This morning he told me he had three kinds of powers: Freezing powers (Frozen), Ninja powers (Ninja Turtles) and Easter powers. I asked him what the Easter powers were and he said he could wake people up from the grave…haha.

He starting dropping his nap about the time Henry was born and has been so tired and grumpy lately. However, for the past two days he has told me that he’s tired and gone to take a nap on his own!

This particular day, they all fell asleep in the car. It was marvelous! I drove around for an additional 20 minutes before I went home. I didn’t even think about the gas money. It was worth the silence!

Mother’s Day Bug

My Mother’s Day weekend started out pretty good. I went to Hannah’s school on Thursday to enjoy a little “Muffins with Mom” breakfast. It was so cute. The moms waited outside and then the kids came one at a time and invited us to the room. Hannah showed me to my seat and then “served” me breakfast. When we were done, she cleaned up everything and threw it away. She was very proud of herself.

Then everything went south. I took the boys home and Nathan got on the couch and went to sleep. I knew something was wrong because that never happens. I checked his temp and sure enough he had fever. Then came the diarrhea. The really bad kind. Like can’t make it to the potty and go all over the floor kind.

IMG_1199

That was Thursday. Friday morning Hannah wasn’t feeling great. It hit me on Saturday. By that time Nathan was feeling a little better, but me and poor little Hannah did not fair so well. And I had to nurse Henry through the whole thing! So not only was I up feeding him at night, but I was also running back and forth to the bathroom while Scott was trying to take care of Hannah and Nathan. By 5 am Sunday morning (Mother’s Day), we had changed Hannah’s sheets on her bed for about the third time and at 6 am I was bleaching the floors in between waves of nausea.

I thought this picture was funny because I didn’t set it up at all. These things were just on our bar the entire time. I was rubbing essential oils on everyone and diffusing them all over the house. I doused everything in Lysol and poor Scott did about 50 loads of laundry and the dishwasher was going constantly.

IMG_7365

Then, poor little Henry got sick. And did you know that you have to nurse an infant every HOUR when they are sick so they don’t get dehydrated?! It was a nightmare and I’m not sure how we survived.

Poor Hannah was so tired of being sick. She tried to sit outside just to get out of the house, but was quickly back on the couch.

IMG_7368

Superdad!!! Not all men would strap on a baby carrier. Just another reason why I love this guy. So even though this Mother’s Day was not at all restful, I definitely felt needed and loved by my family. That’s all this mama needs.

Hannah’s 5th Birthday

HUBLEY_032

Our big five year old! This has been a big year for you sweet girl. You became a big sister again! You had a hard time with the adjustment to a new baby in the house, but you love him so much. You always want to hold him and can’t keep your hands off him most of the time (which can be frustrating for mommy). But you really just want to help and you do a great job. You love singing him lullabies and are very proud when you can get him to sleep!

IMG_3743

You have a different kind of relationship with Nathan. You love to play with him when he’s playing what you want him to play: Barbie's, Mommy and Daddy, school (your always the teacher), etc. The problem comes when he wants to do “boy” things. But most of the time, he’s happy just being your sidekick. He sure is going to miss you when you start school in the fall!

IMG_1071

You still love playing dress-up. Here are a few of your favorites.

IMG_1440

IMG_1032

You love all things girly, but also don’t mind getting dirty. You always want to pet the snakes at the zoo. I’m still not brave enough to try it!

IMG_3756

You have learned to swing by yourself this year and spend a lot of time just swinging in the backyard. You still love working puzzles, listening to music, singing and doing crafts.

IMG_3600

One recent accomplishment is reading!! We’ve been working at home together and you’ve picked it up so fast. It’s hard for you to let me assume the role of teacher. That’s just not how it works in your mind. However, your letting it slide because, although you don’t like to admit it, I actually know a few things that you don’tWinking smile

It’s so fun watching you learn new things everyday. Although kindergarten is such a scary thought for me right now, I know you are going to do great in school and can’t wait to see you blossom.

We love you so much!
