Favorite Time of Year

We bought our Christmas tree today after work, and Jennifer put out our small collection of Christmas decorations. This is her favorite time of year so she really had a great time. Here's some pics of our living room

Sam-Bo!

We were so excited last weekend when Christi and Amber brought our favorite nephew Sam (5 months old) to visit. He is such a good baby, and we had so much fun with him! Here's a couple of pictures (Jennifer took most of them). Look how cute he is!

Poor Billy

In case you haven't heard, Billy Gillispie's 20th-ranked Wildcats lost his second game at Kentucky to Gardner-Webb from the Atlantic Sun Conference. From the box score, it looks like they got outplayed from the first minute and never caught up. I'm sure a home loss to a team from a mid-major was not exactly what Billy G was expecting . Poor Billy.

Big Mistake

So I got home from work around 6pm, just in time to find a sunroom salesman parked in my driveway. What were we thinking?!? We invited him to come over so we could get an idea of how much it would cost to add a sunroom where our back porch is currently. We got a lovely presentation from a 3-inch, 3-ring binder with laminated visual aids followed by a fascinating demonstration about space age materials that we have the opportunity to have in our home. 2 hours later, we were definitely no closer to getting a sunroom, and the majority of our evening was gone. I don't know about you, but turning down a hard sell in my living room at 8pm is not my idea of unwinding from the day. Note to self: don't ever do that again.

Constellation Energy

So we were getting ready to watch the Cowboys' game, and we saw a pretty cool commercial on tv. We even backed up the Tivo to watch it again because we noticed a dog in the commercial looked like Sarah. When we finally got to the end of the commercial, we found out that it was promoting Constellation New Energy which is where my sister Christina Whitaker is employed as a Marketing Director! We are still investigating what, if anything, she had to do with it, but we still thought it was blog worthy. You can watch it here

Sarah

Sarah has definitely made herself at home in the 2 months we've had her. For those that haven't heard how we came to acquire Sarah, I'll recap. During Labor Day weekend, on the way home from Kerrville, we drove through Hamilton and saw a small farm with a sign that read "Pet Adoptions Today!" We stopped and got a crash course on Huts 4 Mutts. It is a rescue that keeps dogs temporarily until they can place them in a home. We found a cute 2-yr old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix named Sarah. She was found out on a county road and turned in to Hutts 4 Mutts. She had been there about a month. We had to make the decision on the spot because a thunderstorm was quickly blowing in, so we wrote a check, grabbed Sarah, and hit the road.

When she first arrived, she was pretty sheepish and a little unsure about being a house dog. She wouldn't sleep on the dog bed we bought her (which is a far cry from the pampered pooch we have now). She has gradually become more and more comfortable with our schedules and activities. Discipline has been coming along slowly--mainly because she is already 2 yrs old and never had training from what I can tell. She spends most of her free time following Blue around and biting at his heels. Her latest obsession is barking at everything that moves in the backyard. And eating pecans that fall in the yard. And licking everything in sight. Who doesn't love dogs?
