Christmas Happenings

As always, we had a busy Christmas season.  Here are some of the fun things we did.

We spent several evenings by the fire in our pajamas

We wrote letters to Santa at the library

One weekend Mimi and O came to visit with Aunt Becca and her crew.  We had a big time!

We started the weekend with gingerbread houses

IMG_4333

Then we had a big dinner

IMG_4335

And opened presents

IMG_4337

Mama Jo came over to watch Hannah sing at church and we got a group photo. This was the best we could do.

IMG_4922

Hannah sang “This Litle Light of Mine” for the whole congregation at church.

Next we had our work Christmas party at Main Event.  The kids loved it!

IMG_4355

I’m not sure who these characters are

IMG_4358

They also loved the games.  I think this was their first time to play at an arcade.

IMG_4367

IMG_4363

IMG_4927

They loved swiping their cards in the machines, even if they didn’t play.

IMG_4368

One night a fireman Santa made a trip through the neighborhood (right at bedtime).  Nathan was the only one awake so he went out to visit.

IMG_4375

Here are our handsome boys in their Christmas shirts

IMG_4951

We had some Christmas parties at school

IMG_4389

IMG_4383

We made some cookies for our neighbors

IMG_4391

We served a meal at Beautiful Feet, a soup kitchen in Fort Worth.

IMG_4966

IMG_4964

Afterwards, we went downtown to see the big tree

IMG_4967

IMG_4975

Then we did some shopping at H&M.  I found these mannequins in the corner

IMG_4976

We went over to Dallas one day to visit Mama Jo

IMG_4982

IMG_4985

And GG and Jeaning came to visit one morning

IMG_4991

We also had these pesky little elves hanging around the house

Thanksgiving in Evadale

We went to Evadale this year for Thanksgiving and had a great time.

Henry liked sitting with Pop (and playing on Nan’s phone)

IMG_4277

IMG_4278

Hannah played the piano for Memaw

IMG_4280

Nathan went deer hunting with me.  He preferred to lay on the floor and look out this crack in the blind.

IMG_4849

He was excited when we got one

IMG_4850

Pop has a pretty good system for cleaning the deer

IMG_4285

When we got home, we took down our Thankful Tree and put up our Christmas tree (although not without some stump trimming drama).  We definitely have so many things to be thankful for!

Fall Happenings Part 2

Here is a quick recap of some other fun things we did this fall.

Nathan played flag football. Although we didn’t make it through the entire season. He was having a hard adjustment to kindergarten and we decided to simplify for a while.  The part he did play, he loved.

IMG_4801

We did some fire pits in the back yard

IMG_4841

Nana and Pappy came to visit

IMG_8715

We watched Aledo win another state championship at Cowboys stadium

IMG_4377

IMG_4931

Nathan got an actual medal from a friend who got his hands on an extra one.

IMG_4379

We flew some kites

IMG_4263

IMG_4258

IMG_4259

And Hannah did some cooking for us

Halloween

We had a cowboy, a princess, and Darth Vader for Halloween.  Nathan said it was the “second most favorite thing in his life after Christmas.”

We carved our pumpkins

IMG_4178IMG_4182

Henry didn’t want to help. He kept saying, “Yucky. No help.”

IMG_4183

Nathan wanted a number 8 this year for Trevor Knight, the Aggies quarterback.

IMG_4187

Ready for trick or treating

IMG_4769

IMG_4768

IMG_4774

We went with our neighbors and some friends. Henry would walk up to the houses and say “more candy.”

IMG_4776

IMG_4778

Hannah got extra candy at her piano instructor’s house for playing one of her songs

IMG_4189

I got this cape at work and the kids wanted me to wear it

IMG_4188

When we got home, they wanted to pass out candy

IMG_4779

Of course we had to do the annual inventory

IMG_4782

Henry was pleasantly surprised he got to eat candy before bed

IMG_4785

And the boys liked wearing their “bones”

IMG_4153

Aggies vs New Mexico State

We got some free tickets for the New Mexico State game, so Nathan and I did a day trip to watch some football. We had a great time.

We got there early and walked through the tailgate area then headed to the kid’s yell practice

IMG_4724

Next we watched the team walk in and Nathan got high fives from several players including Trevor Knight and Myles Garrett

IMG_4725

Then we went into the stadium early and watched the team warm up.  We went down to the lower level next to the field and got to see the players some more

We got home late and were tired the next day but it was worth it!!  Gig’em!!
