The Cowtown

We joined other families from our school and ran in the Cowtown Kids 5K. We had a great time and will probably make it a tradition for our family.

Before the race…

Nathan and Scott ran with Alexa and her dad the whole way. They finished in about 45 minutes.

I hung back with Hannah and had to basically bribe her to finish the race. I tried positive, motivating words but that only worked until about the end of mile one. She finished, though, and wants to do it again next year so I think she had a good time.

Afterwards, we went to Chuy’s and Hannah finally lost her other front tooth that had been barely haning on for a week.

I’d call that a successful morning.

Nathan turns 5!

For Nathan’s actual birthday, we started off with presents in the morning.

He got to pick his meals for the day.

He picked waffles for breakfast

We went to Chick-fil-A for lunch with friends, then had pancakes for dinner.

Nathan still loves all things sports.  Last year he spent all his time at home playing soccer and peter pan, and now he plays baseball and star wars. He is still a superb chicken farmer and a big helper for Mommy with his little brother.  He is our super extrovert. He never meets a stranger and seems to make a new friend every day.  His teachers say he always pays attention in school and church. He is in his last year of preschool and goes two days per week.  He still thinks Hannah hung the moon, even though they can go from best buds to at each other’s throats in a split second.  He loves to play with figurines and has become a big collector.

He has the best laugh. He finds lots of things funny and will have us all giggling just because his laugh is so contagious. It really is one of his best qualities…says his mom.

Nathan is very observant.  You can’t get anything past him.  It seems like he is always asking why we are doing something, where we are going, what comes next, etc. He seems to be always thinking a few steps ahead.  He also has a great sense of direction and geography.  He can navigate you to any of our frequent destinations (Hannah’s school, his school, church, bible study, the grocery store), and also recognize less frequent places that he has been before (zoo, botanic gardens, Nate’s house).

He loves bath time with Henry

We are so proud of you Nathan!

Nathan’s 5th Birthday

Nathan turned 5 in February.  He decided that he wanted to have a Super Bowl party to cap off football season.  We had some food and fun during the pre-game and then got serious about watching some football!

As kids arrived, they played football in the backyard.  Once we had a full team at the party, we started out with pin the football on the goal post

Hannah and another little girl won, but we’re pretty sure they could see.

IMG_8483

Next we busted this Cowboys pinata….kind of like their busted season.

Then we opened some presents. You can never have enough Aggie footballs.

And then had some food.  We made some pulled pork sandwhiches with chips and dip.  Nathan specifically requested “red chips” AKA nacho doritos.

Not sure what was going on here, I think she was feeding him some cake

After the cake, it was game time and we got to watch Von Miller sack his way to the MVP.  The kids were in and out playing in the yard while the adults watched the game. Nathan watched the recording the next day.  This was another great birthday for our little football fan.  Happy Birthday Nathan!

Field Trips

We’ve had some fun field trips this spring.

Nathan’s class went to the local grocery store and got to tour the bakery. Due to limited space they split the boys and girls into two groups.

Then I went with Hannah and her class to the Dallas Aquarium.

A few weeks later, Nathan’s class went to the butterfly exhibit in the Botanic Gardens. He was really hoping to get one to land on his finger…they never did.
