Passing of an Institution

Well the day finally came.  I knew it had to at some point.  My favorite childhood pet, Cowboy, passed away today.  He was about 17 years old and his age had been taking a toll on him the past few years.  He was one of the best dogs you could ever ask for.  He was extremely loyal, fun, friendly, troublemaker at times, good with the other pets, trustworthy, on and on. Some of my favorite memories:
  • The night we got him from a "real cowboy" right after we moved into the house in Canyon
  • Chasing rabbits at Dr. Colette's
  • Taking rides in the blue pickup truck (he could jump into the back of a standard pickup with the tailgate up)
  • Playing in the snow drifts with us
  • Following me on my runs down FM 1062
  • Fathering countless litters of puppies
  • Getting old and just hanging out in the house

You were a good friend Cowboy and will be greatly missed!  Here are a few pictures of him below (most of them were taken in his old age)

Good close up view of his markings

Enjoying a sunny winter day
Cowboy and Broady (who has some pretty big shoes to fill)
Did I mention he was good with the other pets?

Quilting and other news....

Well, I finally finished. I bought this quilt pattern about a year ago and cut the squares immediately....then I stopped. As I recall, I was about to have a baby and my mind was occupied with other things. But a few months ago, I got motivated once again and decided it was time to start/finish this quilt.

It was my first one to make and I have to say...I think I'm addicted. I really, really enjoyed the whole process. I still have a lot to learn and need a lot more practice, so don't look too close at the pictures.

I guess I'll give this one to Hannah and start on another one for baby #2....which, by the way, is due in FEBRUARY. Yes, the Hubley's are pregnant and yes, we've done the math...they will be 21 months apart. YIKES! But also EXCITING!

Riding with Daddy

We've been thinking about getting a bike trailer for Hannah so we can all ride our bikes together. Our friends graciously let us borrow theirs to see if Hannah would enjoy it (ps...we will return it soon...I promise). She had a great time, but I don't think she liked the helmet at all.

Corn on the Cob

Corn is Hannah's favorite new veggie. She has always loved it, but has just been recently introduced to corn on the cob. As you can see, she really gets after it!

Costa Rica!!

Last week Scott and I joined some of our best friends for a wonderful vacation in Costa Rica. It was so beautiful and relaxing...just what we needed to recharge. I missed Hannah so much, but the time alone with the hubby was worth it.

There was only one issue. Scott came down with something called Dengue Fever. Sounds bad right? Well, it was...but not as bad as it could have been. It's a tropical disease carried by a certain kind of mosquito and it's very rare for a tourist that is only there for one week to contract. He was really sick for about 3 days then slowly came around.  All in all, he got to do most of the things he wanted, we just had to cram them in on the last few days.

But at least he had this view to help him heal....

This is the view from the house we rented. It sat up on a cliff overlooking the ocean and was appropriately named "Vista Magnifica!"

It had an infinity pool which was the coolest thing EVER!

The kitchen and sitting area.

View from the balcony.

Breakfast made just for us by the house cook, Rosita! Waffles and fresh fruit!

Me and hubby.

Where we spent most of our time.

Another great view from the house.

The girls out for lunch.

Scott and I at a fancy French restaurant, Sol y Mar (or Mar y Sol). All of the food was so delicious!

The aforementioned cook, Rosita. She was great!

Iguanas are everywhere and they are huge! Definitely not my favorite part.

Everyone at Dante Beach.

Scott and Craig exploring at Dante Beach (possibly where Scott got Dengue Fever).

Ziplining through the rainforest....whooohooo!

The boys hanging out at Conchal Beach.

Watch out ladies...

The whole gang on our last night together.

As you can see, it was a great trip (aside from Scott getting sick). We had a so much fun with our friends and hope to do it again one day!
