Ben, Carrie and the great search for Sarah

We had a little scare this morning with Sarah. It all started last night when we left the dogs in the backyard while we went to eat with Ben and Carrie. When we got back, Sarah was standing in the front yard waiting on us. I was quite surprised to see her there, especially because I made sure the gate was shut before we left. Sarah has long known how to open the gate when it is not properly latched but she had clearly learned how to get out of the yard when the gate was closed. It turns out that she scratched at the bottom of the gate until the bottom of the picket broke off. Combined with the deflection of the gate, she was able to just barely squeeze out.

While I was frustrated, I mainly attributed her behavior to her fear of the backyard when it was dark and didn't think much else of it. Then this morning I went to run an errand around 8am, and I left the dogs in the backyard. When I returned, Sarah was not in the back yard, or the front yard. She was gone. So Ben and I spent the next 3.5 hours searching the neighborhood by car, foot, and bike and even put up fliers.

Then around noon, Sarah returned home as mysteriously as she left. Jennifer and Carrie were playing with Hannah when Sarah all of a sudden started scratching on the front door. She made it home! Here is a picture of her back home safely. Notice the mischievous look on her face?!?

Besides Sarah's escapades, we had a nice visit with Ben and Carrie. Here is a picture of them and Hannah.

2 kinds of computer users...

Those that back up their files, and those that wish they had.

We fall into the latter category. About 3 weeks ago, our laptop had a catastrophic hard drive failure. We have an external hard drive where we backup our files, but I haven't done one since January!!! Luckily, the computer was under warranty, so it didn't cost us any $$, just precious memories (we store our pictures and home videos on our pc). So just a reminder to everyone out there, back up your files.

Hubley Vacation 2009

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. Psalm 36:5-6

There is no place like the mountains to remind you that we serve an awesome God! Last week we went to Angel Fire, NM for our first family vacation and we had a great time. The weather was gorgeous! It was around 75 deg during the day and around 40 deg at night...so pretty much perfect! We stayed in Scott's family's condo and just soaked up the fresh, cool mountain air for a week. We took walks/runs around town, went hiking in the mountains, ate, shopped, and got massages in Taos, and got lots of much needed R&R.

We already knew Hannah liked to be outside but she liked being outside in the mountains even more. She is definitely her father's daughter! We took her on a 5 mile hike that took about 2 1/2 hours and she loved it. She stayed awake for the first 30 minutes and then slept the rest of the hike. She would smile and giggle everytime we put her in the Baby Bjorn...she was so cute!

Here are some pictures of our adventures:

Mom and Hannah hanging out in the condo.

Mom and Hannah eating at the AMAZING Taos Pizza Outback (we ate outside at almost all the restaurants because the weather was so nice).

Mom and Hannah overlooking the Rio Grande Gorge outside of Toas.

Hannah getting ready to take a walk with her dad in the cool mountain morning air.

The Hubley's first hike!

Beautiful views on the hike.

Scott carried Hannah on the front and the backpack on the back. All I could handle was the water bottle.

Scott and Hannah on a walk. She loved it!

More Pictures

Isn't this so cool? While Hannah is napping, I have been learning how to create a collage of pictures in a program we have on our computer. This is her dressed up for Abi Wallaces' 1st birthday party. It was at a park, so we wore our picnic outfit (again...thanks to Nan). The hat was a watermelon!

I know I'm turning into "that mom" showing off a ton of pictures of her beautiful daughter, but I have to show them so our families can watch her grow!

4th of July

Sorry I am just now posting about 4th of July, but we just uploaded all our pictures from the camera. We had a few friends over to the house and Scott grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, and we hung around the pool. We had a great time! Hannah had several outfits to wear for the 4th (thanks to Nan), so here are a few shots of her in her red, white, and blue gear:

Don't worry, she had on sunscreen and wasn't in the pool long. I mainly just wanted a picture in her swimsuit!

This is JD, our friends Kristi and Josh's son. All he wanted to do was hold Hannah's hand. He was so sweet.

Doctor, Doctor

This is Hannah at her 2 month old check-up with her pediatrician, Dr. Murphy. He is so great with her and takes the time to explain everything to us. I ask so many questions that I am sure he has heard a million times, but he never makes me feel silly. He says it's ok to ask all those questions now, but if I am still calling about a cold or congestion when Hannah is 12, then we have a problem....thanks Dr. Murphy!

All Smiles

Here are pictures of that wonderful smile I was telling you about! She can really light up a room! She is so precious!
