We got up early on Memorial Day and drove down to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose. We had never been there before and it did not disappoint. Since it was a holiday weekend, we wanted to get there early, so we arrived about 15 minutes before the park opened. There were a few other cars in the parking lot but we didn’t have to wait much in the park. It was a really beautiful property and we saw a big variety of animals including exotic deer and antelope, ostriches, zebras, giraffes, and cheetahs.
The kids loved feeding the animals
Henry called everything a bear. “More bear, more bear”
Some of the deer were almost too comfortable with people
We stopped at the gift shop half way and let the kids pick a toy. They had a good selection and everyone was able to find something for less than $5. After Fossil Rim, we went back through Glen Rose with plans on a picnic at Big Rocks park, but we found it was under water from the river.
Luckily there was another park around the corner that had some historic homes. The kids liked checking out the one room school house
It was a nice trip and a good way to finish the holiday weekend.
