May 4th, 2010: Hannah's Day

For Hannah's actual birthday, we decided to celebrate the whole day with her as a family...just the three of us. Here are a few fun things we did:

We both went in her bedroom when she woke up and serenaded her with "Happy Birthday to You." She really liked being the center of attention.

Then, before Scott went to work, we took her to eat breakfast at one of our favorite spots. We ordered a little of everything and let her have her pick. Doesn't it look good!?!

Of course...she liked it all!

After breakfast I took Hannah home for her nap and then we met dad for a picnic lunch at the park.

She really enjoyed the swing!!

Has it really been a year? I've been putting off writing this post because I have to come to grips with the fact that, yes, it indeed has been a year. My first instinct when I look back over the years is to get very emotional and sad. But I have decided this will be different. I choose to reflect on Hannah's first year of life and rejoice.

Reflect on her birthstory and even though it wasn't what we were expecting, rejoice that the Lord brought her in the world healthy and thriving.

Reflect on the fears we had leaving the hospital as first time parents and rejoice that we did ok after all.

Reflect on all the sleepless nights and pacing the halls and rejoice that God allowed us to comfort and hold our baby.

Reflect on all her milestones, holding her head, rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and now walking, and rejoice in the perfect way the Lord made our bodies.

Reflect on her beautiful smile (with 4 1/2 teeth) and rejoice that I wake up to see it everyday.

Reflect on how excited she gets when Dad comes home from work and rejoice that he is such a wonderful father.

Reflect on how selfless you have to be when you have children and rejoice that the Lord's mercies are new everyday because I never seem to get it right.

Reflect on how much I love Hannah and rejoice that I now have a slight glimpse of the love our Heavenly Father has for us.

Hannah, we look forward to learning more about you, sharing our lives with you, and watching you grow in faith and love.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET GIRL!
